SWANSEA CHENG HSIN

Cheng Hsin

Cheng Hsin was created by former World full-contact champion Peter Ralston

It’s an art that focuses on Skill and Consciousness, using martial interaction (or fighting, if you like).

It's the ideal to try if you like the idea of training the martial side of tai chi but don't want the hassle of getting beaten up. It's safe and fun!

It contains a wide variety of martial techniques, but more than this, it teaches skills beyond the mere physical.

Perception, interpretation, leading, following, connecting, joining are all extremely useful in martial arts and whereas the focus of the Swansea school is not on self-defence, this art will make you a more effective martial artist.

We concentrate on relating appropriately to whatever our partner of opponent is doing and these skills, known as The Principles of Effective Interaction, make us far more efficient and effective in all areas of life.

Using techniques from arts such as Tai Chi, Aikido, Judo, Bagua and Western Boxing we explore the mind and body deeply, looking into effortless power and intrinsic strength.

It’s a fun way to learn the martial side of tai chi and safe too – we initially omit the striking arts using only pressure (i.e. pushes and pulls – which are real forces) to practice, so no one gets hurt
